"This is your house now. I'll be going on an adventure," said Bertrand with a grin, half-hidden under his silver-grey moustache.

The woman in the door opening shook her head as she went in for an embrace. "Most people start their journey younger than me," she said.

"Yes, yes, but better late than never," said Bertrand, "I want to experience it. Pursue my dream."

"I know," she said and kissed him on the cheek, "but you are ancient, dad."

"Ancient but not frail," he said and kissed her on the forehead before turning about and walking towards the street. "Take care. I'll call you in Oldale." He raised his hand for goodbye and set out on his journey.

Bertrand wore sturdy walking shoes, light blue jeans and a white and blue striped sweater. A long beige coat and a blue scarf with white crosses protected him against the elements. He carried on his back a small backpack and had slung a shoulder bag over his shoulders. With long strides and umbrella in hand, he moved over the path. His eyes fixed on the horizon ahead of him. His childhood dream would come to fruition.
